Eileen Gray Transat Chair
A Transat chair by Eileen Gray for Ecart International, c. 1980s. This chair was originally designed by Eileen Gray in the 1920s for Le Corbusier's home, the E-1027 house in the south of France. Modeled after a transatlantic deck chair, hence the name Transat, this chair was reproduced later in the 1980s by Ecart International, the official license holder for the chair. A sling chair, this piece has angles and geometrics not typically seen in lounge chairs. This chair is produced in black leather and lacquer, detailed by chrome accents and hardware. A true statement piece, this chair commands attention in the most modern of interiors. The wear is appropriate to the age of the chair and the lacquer finish shows both chips and blemishes on the arms and the headrest with numerous scratches on the base underside due to sliding on the floor over the years. While the chair can be re-lacquered, the condition as is would not detract in any way from the beauty or overall condition. The chrome hardware is shiny and bright. A stunning piece to add to a variety of decors. Condition: Very good. Price: $6,500. Inquire about this item.
